Well we’re nearing the end of April and I’ve hardly gotten in any knitting time this last two weeks.
My April challenge was Chevrons, the idea was to make a piece of knitted art based on the tv show Twin Peaks . An image of the famous ‘Red Room’.
Unfortunately I spent too many nights knitting in the dark and had to frog my stockinette stitch piece due to imperfections. This set me back considerably and coupled with starting a new job I wasn’t able to finish the piece in time. I did however whip up a Red Room phone cosy instead!
And there we have it – April Chevrons!
I’ve been keeping up with my weather scarf too, its quite long now so please excuse the blurry photo. But as you can see the weather has warmed up a bit !
I also entered my Sidney Owl into the Let’s Knit Readers’ Makes Competition. I’d so appreciate it if you could head over to their Facebook Page and like my photo to help me win.
Not sure what next months challenge will be yet but its sure to be exciting!
What a fantastic weekend, got in bit of reading, some gaming, some yarncraft and a good rambling walk!
I finished my Sidney Owl, he’s looking fantastic
He was great for getting in some new techniques.
I’ve learned how to k1b (knit one below) and do chain stitch (for the eyebrows)
On Sunday evening after the rain cleared up we went for a walk to Royden Park.
As soon as we approached the water the ducks came over, they left with much quacking once they realised we didn’t have any food!
We walked around the waters edge to the other side, every time we stopped the ducks would float over to us trying to get fed!
Then we ventured into the forest
After a while we came past some farmland and these little beauties
We climbed through the brush and got right up to the fence to give them a little stroke. They were so adorable and very friendly!
By this point we weren’t actually sure how far away we’d gotten from where we started.
Got the GPS on my phone to lead us home!
We ended up about 50 yards down the road from where we’d begun. Think we basically went round in a big circle. It was a really fun evening and a good couple of hours well spent! Plus it culminated in sunset and a pint in the beer garden!
As I awoke this morning the sun was shining and the sky was blue.
It wasn’t to last however I managed to fit in a nice afternoon out before the weather turned.
My mum and I went to Brimstage Hall, a lovely collection of shops and eateries set against the pretty village of Brimstage on the Wirral.
The Olive Tree- Flowers and Interiors.
The room is furnished with bespoke pieces and decorated with candles, cushions, throws, and other delectable home treasures. It looks more like a living space than a shop. Very simple style, relaxed low lighting and natural hues of grey, pink, beige and brown. Its a joy to browse!
Elegant Hats – A fabulous shop found up stairs from the Olive Tree, its all the occasion hats you could ever need. Plus a great selection of bags and shoes.
Saqqara – Fair Trade fashion, accessories, homewares and nick nacks. Can’t resist those rainbow colours!
I also went to Voirrey Embroidery, a fabulous haberdashery with a great range of yarns, fabrics and needlecraft accessories for all budgets. I was so dazzled by all pretty stuff I didn’t take any pictures!
I did however pick up four fat quarters of pretty gorgeous fabric.
Can’t wait to make something with these!
Went out for a lovely walk yesterday evening and it got me thinking how gorgeous the Wirral can be. Our tiny peninsula boasts some beautiful scenery.
These are from Arrowe Park,
We walked right through the forest past this waterfall, on the way back I left a rainbow heart on the fence.
This was very impromptu, i just grabbed the heart on the way out the door.
Next time I’m going to prepare!
Here’s some more pretty pictures from the last couple of summers
The latest on the weather scarf, its still freezing so all blue and grey.
Can’t wait til the warm weather kicks in!
A few days late (oops) but I’ve finally finished Pierre, my entrelac bag.
I love how the colours look, especial the amber/purple combination!
Its going to need a lining but as I’m late finishing it, I’ll save that for another time.
My April Challenge is chevrons, I’m making an iconic image from a certain tv show
Can you guess what it is?
I’ll be swatching this afternoon, pics to follow!
